This book provides an introduction to the principles of metal cutting technology, an important part of manufacturing engineering today. These principles form the basis for understanding vital areas like cutting tool design, machinability data, operation planning, etc. SI units have been used and a number of numerical examples have been provided in each chapter.

G Kuppuswamy is Assistant Professor in the Manufacturing Engineering Section at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, from where he graduated in Mechanical Engineering and obtained his Ph.D. He was awarded for his work on the Beneficial Effect of Magnetic Field on Electron Chemical Grinding. He has published extensively in both national and internation journals.
